Cowboys Battle Rams on Saturday in First Border War Matchup of the Season

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 29, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowboys will host the Colorado State Rams in the first edition of this season’s Border War on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. The contest will be a White Out as fans are encouraged to wear white, as Wyoming will wear their State Pride Jersey. The contest will be televised on FS1.
 
Wear White as you cheer on the Cowboys in the Border War! Be early as the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free rally towel from our friends at FNBO. Also the Bronze Boot will be in attendance for photos up until tip-off!
 
Fans can listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network with Keith Kelley on the call and Kevin McKinney on Color.

Wyoming heads into the contest with a 12-9 overall record and a 3-7 mark in conference play after falling on the road at Utah State on Wednesday. The Pokes average 78.8 points per game this season and allow 73.2 per night. Wyoming is averaging only 68.7 points per game in conference play. The Pokes are grabbing 37.4 rebounds per game this season to lead the conference. The Cowboys are grabbing 12.5 offensive rebounds per game, which also leads the MW.
 
The Rams head to Laramie with a 12-9 overall record and a 3-7 mark in conference play after falling on the road at San Diego State on Wednesday. The Rams average 76.5 points per game and allow 71 points per night. Colorado State is an effective team from the field shooting 49 percent for the season. One of the nation’s top three-point shooting teams, CSU adds 10.4 make per game and are shooting 40 percent, which ranks fifth in the nation.

Wyoming is led in scoring this season by Leland Walker at 15.5 points per game for eighth in the MW. He also adds a team-high 3.6 assists per game, which ranks sixth in the conference. He had 30 points for a career-high on Tuesday. Nasir (Naz) Meyer adds 13.6 points per game this season and adds 5.2 rebounds per game. He returned to the lineup for the Pokes on Wednesday after being out with an injury. Khaden Bennett adds 9.1 points per game and ranks second on the team with 4.5 rebounds per night. He ranks fourth in the MW shooting over 85 percent from the free throw line. He is second on the team with 59 helpers on the season.
 
The Rams are led by are led in scoring by Kyle Jorgensen at 12.9 points per game. He also ranks second on the team with 4.7 rebounds per night. Brandon Rechsteiner adds 11.9 points along with Josh Pascarelli. They have combined for 102 threes this season. Carey Booth leads the team with six rebounds per night and adds 10.6 points per game.

The Cowboys and Rams will meet for the 245th time on Saturday. The Pokes lead the all-time series 139-105 with the first meeting coming back in 1911. Wyoming boasts a 81-41 record in Laramie. The Rams have taken three-straight in the series.
