Arsenal Beat Rivals To Wonderkid Signing

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign England U19 international Jaden Dixon in a £3.2million deal from Stoke City, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Dixon is an 18-year-old defender who plays for Stoke City in the Championship and Arsenal have swooped to beat a number of Premier League rivals to his signature late on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners have been quiet on transfer deadline day, with Mikel Arteta looking at potential midfielder signings in the wake of injury to Mikel Merino, but being unable to get anyone in late in the window.

They had opened talks to sign 18-year-old striker James Wilson from Hearts, but they appear to have been beaten to that signing by fierce north London rivals Tottenham, who could offer a straight loan with an option to buy, while the Gunners were looking at bringing the youngster in on trial.
Now, they look to have got one over on Spurs by signing teenage defender Dixon, who used to be in the Tottenham academy.
Dixon has played for England at U17, U18 and U19 level and has made seven appearances in the Premier League 2 for the Potters this season, having made six appearances for the senior side last season – four of them coming in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea Tried To Sign The Teenager
Arsenal see the signing as a massive coup, with a number of other Premier League clubs also interested in the youngster. The deal will cost the Gunners an initial £3.2million, but there are add-ons that could see the price rise even higher, depending on how the future pans out for the 18-year-old.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea made a move to try to sign the defender in the summer transfer window, holding discussions with Stoke over a deal but failing to come to an agreement.
And that miss has proven to be Arsenal’s gain just five months on.
