Snow for Tuesday

TUESDAY: 9 FIRST WARNING WEATHER ALERT DAY

While it’s a quiet forecast tonight, we’ll see snow start around the Tri-State on Tuesday. Snow becomes more impactful midday on Tuesday as a developing weather system moves through the region.

Specifically, snow is expected to overspread the area by late morning and continue through the afternoon and late afternoon hours.

Periods of steady snowfall may reduce visibility and create treacherous travel conditions, particularly during the afternoon commute.

Accumulations of around one to three inches are possible, with locally higher amounts if snow persists longer. Cold temperatures will allow snow to stick easily to roads before tapering off Tuesday night. We should be done before 6 pm.

Wednesday will turn dry but sharply colder as the system exits. Skies will gradually clear, but highs will only reach the lower 20s, with overnight lows dropping into the single digits. Wind chills will remain bitter during the morning hours. Thursday stays cold and quiet with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the mid-20s.

Friday brings increasing cloud cover with a slight chance for light snow showers, though any accumulation appears minimal at this time. Temperatures may moderate slightly, approaching the freezing mark by afternoon.

The weekend continues the cold trend. Saturday looks dry but very chilly with highs in the lower 20s. Sunday will feature mostly cloudy skies with temperatures edging closer to the upper 20s. A weak disturbance may bring a few flurries late in the weekend, but significant snowfall is not currently anticipated.
