Instagram experienced outages for some users on Wednesday, January 4, according to claims circulating on social media. As of 5:30 pm Pacific Time, outage-tracking website Downdetector recorded more than 7,500 reports of problems with Instagram. The majority of users flagged issues with the website (86%), followed by the app (9%) and login-related problems (4%). The number of reports later declined.
Several users took to X to share screenshots of an error message they said appeared while trying to access the platform. The message read, “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
