Jade Cargill will finally defend the WWE championship on TV after 100+ days of nothing

Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan showed up on tonight’s (Feb. 6) episode of SmackDown to talk more about her decision on which champion to face at WrestleMania 42.

WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill didn’t take kindly to Liv’s presence and threat to go after her belt, so she crashed the party to give Morgan a piece of her mind. One thing led to another, and GM Nick Aldis booked one of those “Can they co-exist?” tag team matches on the spot of Cargill & Jordynne Grace vs. Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez.

Both sides had miscues in the match that led to teammates accidentally hurting each other, including Raquel taking out Liv with a big boot.

Grace took advantage of the chaos to roll up Raquel and pick up the win for her team.

Cargill and Grace then got into a heated argument backstage, until Aldis stepped in to notify Jade that she shouldn’t be too worried about WrestleMania right now, because she has to first defend the title on next week’s (Feb. 13) SmackDown on SyFY against Grace.

This is where I have to remind everyone that this will be Jade’s first title defense on TV or PLE since winning the belt way back on Nov. 1. Today is her 97th day as champion, so her reign will surpass the 100-day mark by the time next week’s title defense against Grace rolls around. She’s only defended the belt on some house shows against Michin, B-Fab, and Bayley up to this point.

Will the long wait be worth it when the bell rings on Cargill vs. Grace for the WWE women’s championship next week on SyFY? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
