Spurs’ Stephon Castle makes insane triple-double history not done since 1993 legend

Stephon Castle just put together one of the best individual performances in San Antonio Spurs history.
The talented guard shone with the first 40-point triple-double for a Spurs player since David Robinson did it in 1993, dominating the Dallas Mavericks in every facet in a Saturday night win.
Castle has already proven himself as a building block for the Spurs, but this night was unlike any he had put up before in his career.
He finished with 40 points on a ridiculous 40 15-for-19 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range, along with 7-of-10 from the foul line.

Castle grabbed 12 rebounds, most on the Spurs.
He also dished out 12 assists.
Castle even had three steals and a block for good measure.
In plus-minus, he was a plus-30, so these weren’t empty stats. The Spurs absolutely dominated in Castle’s 32 minutes of action.
Castle entered the night averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game.

He’s only been a 45.5% shooter from the field and 27.9% from 3-point range this season, so the fact that he was so efficient is a positive sign for things to come, for sure.
If you were picking a Spurs player to make San Antonio history not done since David Robinson, you’d surely point to Victor Wembanyama.
But on this night, it was Castle proving just how special he can be, too.
