Jonathan Nolan Has Seen ‘The Odyssey’, Praises Brother Christopher’s Take As “Spectacular Film”

As cinephiles await the big screen event that is The Odyssey, Jonathan Nolan has given his early review of the movie.
Writer/director Christopher Nolan‘s brother, who himself is a director and EP on Fallout, praised the upcoming Universal Pictures adaptation of Homer’s epic as a “spectacular film” ahead of its July 17 premiere in Imax.
“I’m not working on The Odyssey. I have seen The Odyssey,” the younger Nolan brother told CinemaBlend. “It’s tremendous. It’s an incredible achievement… I was fascinated by the Iliad and The Odyssey when I was younger, and I had some fun conversations with Chris about where he’s taking it. It’s a spectacular film.”
After moving on from Warner Bros. with his 12th film Oppenheimer (2023), winning seven Oscars and surpassing $975M globally for Universal, Christopher Nolan announced The Odyssey has his next collaboration with the studio in December 2024.
Nolan told Empire, “As a filmmaker, you’re looking for gaps in cinematic culture, things that haven’t been done before. And what I saw is that all of this great mythological cinematic work that I had grown up with—Ray Harryhausen movies and other things—I’d never seen that done with the sort of weight and credibility that an A-budget and a big Hollywood, Imax production could do.”
