Buckingham pancake race returns for 2026

Buckingham’s annual pancake race event is due to return this year on Thursday 19 February 2026 (11am – 12.30pm).
The event will take place on the green by St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church.
It will start with an official opening by the mayor, followed by a warm-up led by Urban Om Yoga to help participants limber up before the races begin.
There will be pancake races for all ages and abilities, with categories including:
- 5 and under
- 6–11 years
- 12–17 years
- Adult
- Relay
- Walking race
There will also be a children’s craft tent for younger visitors.
Entry to the event is completely free of charge – participants simply need to bring their own frying pan, headscarf and apron.
There are prizes to be won, with trophies awarded to race winners.
“The friendly competition is a wonderful opportunity for friends to see who can manage to reach the other end without dropping their pancake,” said Cllr Robin Stuchbury, chair of town centre and events committee.
“These important friendly interactions between the community, and the young people who take part, bring a lot of pleasure to all involved.
“None of this would be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of our events and green spaces teams, whose hard work in preparing the course makes this event possible.”
