Birmingham City striker Marvin Ducksch has been charged with drink-driving following a three-vehicle collision on Easter Monday. Warwickshire Police were called to the incident on the A3400 near Henley-in-Arden, where the Blues’ first-team training ground is located, at approximately 10.30pm, and arrested Ducksch at the scene.
The two-time Germany international had earlier featured for Blues as a substitute in their 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Ducksch was formally charged by police on Monday, April 13. A statement from Warwickshire Police said: “A 32-year-old man from Solihull has been charged with drink driving following a collision near Henley-in-Arden.
“At around 10.30pm on Monday, 6 April, officers attended a report of a three-vehicle collision on the A3400.
“Marvin Ducksch was arrested and was yesterday, 13 April, charged with drink driving.
“He has been bailed to appear before Warwickshire Magistrates in Leamington on Wednesday, 20 May.”
Ducksch, who signed for Blues on a three-year deal from Werder Bremen last summer, was left out of the squad that beat Wrexham 2-0 on Sunday.
A statement from Blues on Tuesday said: “The club can confirm that Marvin Ducksch has been charged in relation to an offence of driving with excess alcohol.
“Marvin wishes to apologise to his teammates, staff and supporters of the club and accepts full responsibility for his actions. The matter has been dealt with internally and no further comment will be made at this time.”
