Former UTEP Miner Tyrice Knight lifts Super Bowl trophy with Seahawks

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KFOX 14, CBS 4) — Former UTEP Miner Tyrice Knight is a Super Bowl Champion.
The second-year linebacker helped power a dominant Seattle defense nicknamed “The Dark Side” as the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl LX on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
Knight recorded one tackle in the championship game, contributing to a defensive unit that forced three turnovers in route to securing the title. Throughout Seattle’s postseason run, Knight totaled 10 tackles.
The former UTEP standout was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and just two seasons later, he has reached the pinnacle of the sport.
With the victory, Knight becomes the first Miner to win a Super Bowl ring since Lee Mays was part of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ championship team in 2006. However, Mays did not feature in Pittsburgh’s triumph over Seattle in Super Bowl XL.
