Village shop reopens near Cirencester after improvements

Coln Community Stores, located in Main Street in Coln St Aldwyns, reopened on Saturday, February 7.
Funding from the Government’s Rural England Prosperity Fund has been put towards improved accessibility and energy-efficiency upgrades, alongside improvements to the shop layout, cafe and shopping experience.
According to Cotswold District Council, the enhanced shop will mean Coln Community Stores can expand its services.
“Coln Community Stores reopened on Saturday, marking an exciting milestone for this much-loved village hub,” a council spokesperson said.
“The project was supported by the council through the Government’s Rural England Prosperity Fund.
“The funding has gone towards energy-efficiency upgrades and improved accessibility, alongside enhancements to the cafe, store layout and overall shopping environment.
“These improvements have created a more welcoming, inclusive and comfortable space for everyone in the village.
“The refreshed store will allow Coln Community Stores to expand the services it offers, strengthen its role as a community meeting place and continue supporting connections in the area – ensuring it remains a vital resource at the heart of the village.”
