2026 Olympic Games: It’s all about hockey and curling for Canada on Day 7

What to know about the Olympics today

Good morning, I’m Verity, a writer in Montreal. We’re coming on a full week of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics, with Day 7 underway. At 3 a.m. ET, Canada began a round-robin game in men’s curling against the U.S. (Canada is up 6-3). Canada’s women curlers will face off against the U.S. later this morning.

And snowboard cross athlete Audrey McManiman is competing; finals for women will take place later today. Canadian bronze-medallist Meryeta O’Dine is out due to a fractured ankle she suffered in training.

We’ll be seeing more curling, cross-country skiing finals and NHL players hitting the ice once more in Canada’s preliminary men’s hockey game against Switzerland this afternoon.

Yesterday was a whirlwind of competitions with some of Team Canada’s biggest stars who added three medals to the hardware count, bringing it to seven.

Standout moments included Mikaël Kingsbury scoring his third career Olympic silver medal in the men’s moguls after losing gold in a tiebreaker, Éliot Grondin capturing silver in a snowboard cross photo finish and speed skater Courtney Sarault winning bronze in the women’s 500-metre short-track.

Here’s what’s in store for today:

  • Snowboard cross: Canadian Audrey McManiman has advanced to ⅛ finals at 7:30 a.m. ET.
  • Cross-country skiing: Three Canadians compete in the men’s 10K interval, starting at 5:45 a.m. ET and four Canadian men will compete in the 10K biathlon sprint at 8 a.m. ET.
  • Curling: The women’s round robin session 3 against Team USA starts at 8:05 a.m. ET. The men’s round robin session 4 against Sweden is at 1:05 p.m. ET.
  • Speed skating: Ted-Jan Bloemen will have another chance at a podium in the men’s 1,000m at 10 a.m. ET. He’ll be racing in the fourth pair.
  • Skeleton: Two Canadian women — Hallie Clarke and Jane Channell — compete in Heat 1 at 10 a.m. ET. Josip Brusic will race in men’s Heat 3 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
  • Figure skating: Stephen Gogolev skates in the men’s single free skate at 1 p.m. ET.
  • Hockey: The Canadian men’s team takes on Sweden in group play at 3:10 p.m. ET.
