‘Vladimir’ Trailer: Rachel Weisz Is A Woman Obsessed In Netflix Limited Series

“It’s come to my attention that I’ve just lost the ability to captivate. It’s like my husband, my students even my daughter, my entire personhood…useless.” So says Rachel Weisz in the opening of the first trailer for Vladimir, Netflix‘s upcoming limited series adaptation based on Julia May Jonas’ novel.

Enter Vladimir, played by Leo Woodall, who suddenly turns Weisz’s middle-aged obsessive college professor’s life upside down.

Per the series logline, “When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life.”

At one point in the trailer, Woodall reveals to a clearly enamored Weisz that he “has a thing for crazy girls.” The connection gets stronger and stronger until they’re eventually entwined in a steamy affair, but what is real and what is imagined? Weisz reaches out to touch Woodall, saying “Sorry, I just wanted to be sure you were here in the flesh.” “As opposed to what?” asks Woodall, to which Weisz replies, “Oh, in my dreams.”

In addition to Weisz and Woodall, series regular cast includes John Slattery, Ellen Robertson and Jessica Henwick. Cast also includes Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones and Louise Lambert.

The eight-episode series is written, created and executive produced by Jones. Weisz also executive produces alongside Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen (Merman), Jason Winer & Jon Radler (Small Dog Picture Company), Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini.
