‘Not the race I wanted’: Shilo Rousseau competes in first Olympic event

It was a challenging start to her Olympic career, but Shilo Rousseau completed her first race on the world stage this morning
Her first Olympic event wasn’t easy by any stretch, but Shilo Rousseau made her first Olympic appearance earlier today.
The Thessalon resident competed in the women’s 15km individual biathlon event this morning in Italy, finishing the race in a time of 49:45.4 (minutes/seconds).
Rousseau finished 78th in the race, 8.29.8 behind the gold medallist, which was Julia Simon of France.
The race featured 91 competitors in total.
“It was not the race I wanted, but hey, today I can officially call myself an Olympian,” Rousseau said in a social media post. “What an honour.”
Rousseau’s next event is the women’s 7.5km sprint on Saturday morning.
The following day, she’ll be competing in the women’s 10km pursuit.
Rousseau also shared videos on Sunday from her first day of training.
