Winter Olympics 2026 biathlon: Sweden’s Martin Ponsiluoma wins gold in men’s 12.5km pursuit epic

Martin Ponsiluoma won his first ever Olympic gold medal on Sunday (15 February) after excelling on the shooting range with 19 shots out of 20 in the men’s 12.5km pursuit at Milano Cortina 2026.
That’s a first biathlon medal for Sweden at the Antholz-Anterselva Biathlon Arena and their first title in this event since 2010.
Sturla Holm Laegreid of Norway won his third Olympic medal of Milano Cortina 2026 by taking silver, while France’s Émilien Jacquelin won bronze, his first Olympic medal in Italy, and third ever.
