Wegmans Food Markets has announced its grand opening for its southernmost location.
Wegmans will open its first location in Charlotte at 9 a.m. on Oct. 14, bringing the 110,000-square-foot supermarket to Ballantyne.
The store will employ approximately 450 people in full- and part-time positions, and hiring continues ahead of the opening date.
“We’ve put a lot of care into hiring and training our new team, and we’re looking for more enthusiastic candidates to join us before opening day,” said Store Manager Patrick McGuinness. “Construction on the new store is well underway, and we’re thrilled to begin the countdown to Oct. 14 when we will welcome the community through our doors.”
The location will offer restaurant foods including sushi, pizza, chef-made salads and sandwiches, along with a produce department, seafood, meat, bakery, deli and cheese sections. The store will also carry wine and beer.
Wegmans currently has 114 stores across nine states.
