FIU Men’s Basketball Face A Dual Threat Weekend

Christopher Rodriguez | Staff Writer
After defeating Conference USA #4 ranked Louisiana Tech, FIU now goes on to face another highly ranked team in the Liberty Flames.
FIU has faced Liberty before, as their first conference opponent of the season.
On December 28, 2025, the FIU Panthers faced off against the Liberty Flames at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The game was close, ending in overtime with Liberty defeating FIU 97-94.
On Thursday, FIU will face Liberty again, but at Liberty Arena in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Flames currently ranked #1 in Conference USA and has an undefeated 14-0 record. FIU is ranked #12 and is 5-9 in conference play.
Following their trip to Lynchburg, FIU will play at home as they face off against Missouri State on Saturday.
Missouri State is ranked at #5 Conference USA and their conference record is 7-7.
Final Thoughts:
FIU vs Liberty
With the current record of this season’s away games as proof, FIU loses often in games on the road so the Panthers will face quite the challenge in Virginia. Liberty is currently on a 14-game winning streak and has the advantage at home. However, FIU did upset the highly ranked Louisiana Tech and proved themselves ready to face Liberty.
Missouri State vs FIU
When it comes to home games FIU most often performs well when it comes to their home court, so even with a short rest FIU will probably perform up to their typical home standard.
Score Predictions:
Thursday – February 19th
FIU Panthers – 75
Liberty Flames – 74
Saturday – February 21st
FIU Panthers – 78
Missouri State – 63
