21-year-old skier found dead Thursday after overnight search at Northstar California

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the death of a 21-year-old skier following an extensive search operation at Northstar California.

A 21-year-old man was found deceased Thursday morning after failing to return from the slopes, bringing a heartbreaking end to a search effort that began late Wednesday night.

Authorities launched an investigation after receiving a report of a missing person around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Deputies quickly located the man’s vehicle in the Northstar parking lot and determined that he had headed out for a day of skiing but never returned as expected.

Under the direction of the Placer County Office of Emergency Management, the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team was activated early Thursday morning. The recovery effort involved 15 specialized skiers, a snowcat, and two snowmobilers, with additional support from the Northstar Ski Patrol. Search teams tragically located the man’s body at approximately 9 a.m.
