Parts of northeast Avalon record more than 50 cm of snow

School is out again on the northeast Avalon, as the region continues to dig out from this winter’s biggest storm.

The province’s school board made the call at 6 a.m. NT to keep all schools in the metro St. John’s region closed for the day, as well as a number of cancellations and delays in other parts of eastern and central Newfoundland.

Snowfall totals are still trickling in, but parts of the metro region recorded 50-60 cm of snow as of Wednesday evening, with more snow falling overnight.
