Hardik Pandya was batting on 18 runs from 16 balls when he attempted a big shot off South African spinner Keshav Maharaj’s bowling on the first ball of the 15th over of India’s innings on Sunday (February 22). But he failed to get the desired distance and was caught by Tristan Stubbs.
After Pandya was sent back to the pavilion by Maharaj in the India-South Africa T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s match, the cameraman shifted attention to the stands where Hardik’s girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma, was present.
In a clip going viral on the internet, after Hardik’s dismissal, Mahieka was seen clapping.
Mahieka’s shocking reaction after India lost the key batter in the 188-run chase stunned fans.
Here’s a look:
India had high hopes from Hardik in the Super 8s match against South Africa, but the Vadodara-born all-rounder failed to play an impactful knock. During his stay at the crease, he hammered one six and added 35 runs from 30 balls for the sixth wicket with Shivam Dube.
After getting rid of Hardik, Maharaj dismissed Rinku Singh on the third ball of the 15th over. The left-handed batter from Aligarh was caught by Stubbs at the same position for a two-ball duck, and two balls later, Arshdeep Singh also handed a routine catch to Stubbs at the same position.
