Wrexham to win

Championship | Sky Sports+, 7.45pm

Wrexham’s 5-3 victory over Ipswich and Portsmouth’s shock 3-1 win at Millwall means the pair earned the Championship’s most eye-catching results of the weekend, but one looks far better equipped to follow up at the Racecourse Ground than the other.

Pompey were exceptional at the Den, unsettling their promotion-chasing hosts to cruise to victory and increase their own survival chances, but it will be a big ask for John Mousinho to get the same level of effort on Tuesday night.

A 12-man injury list means Portsmouth are relying on a select group of players to maintain their Championship status and any hint of fatigue could be seized upon by the Red Dragons.

Phil Parkinson’s hosts will be buzzing after their five-star show against a strong Ipswich side, who they also beat 1-0 in the FA Cup fourth round earlier this month.

Saturday’s victory made it seven wins in 11 league outings for Wrexham and the fact a much stronger Pompey side failed to beat them at Fratton Park, where most of their best work has been done, points towards a punt on the Welsh outfit at a shade of odds-against.

Odds: 11-10 with Coral & Ladbrokes
