17 WHL Alumni Named To Canada West All-Star and All-Rookie Teams

On Friday, February 27, 2026, Canada West officially unveiled its 2025-26 men’s hockey All-Star and All-Rookie teams, with 17 WHL alumni capturing nearly every available spot across the three squads.

The honours were headlined by the UBC Thunderbirds, who placed a trio of former WHL stars on the First All-Star team following a historic 23-win regular season.
2025-26 Canada West First Team All-Stars
The First Team is dominated by the conference’s top point producers, led by scoring champion Sasha Mutala.

G – Brett Mirwald (UBC): The Saskatoon native and former Vancouver Giant posted an 11-1-1-1 record with two shutouts in his sophomore season.

D – Landon Kosior (Saskatchewan): A Prince Albert Raiders alum, Kosior finished second among all CW defenders with 29 points.

D – Jake Lee (UBC): The veteran blueliner alum from the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kelowna Rockets led all conference rearguards in both points (34) and plus-minus (+37).

F – Connor Bouchard (Mount Royal): The former Tri-City American alternate captain remained a force with 39 points in just 27 games.

F – Adam Kydd (Calgary): The Dinos’ captain led all of U SPORTS with 33 assists, finishing second in the conference scoring race.

F – Sasha Mutala (UBC): The conference’s scoring leader racked up 46 points (14G-32A) to help UBC set a program record for wins.
2025-26 Canada West Second Team All-Stars
The Second Team features a mix of veteran leadership and proven WHL championship experience.

G – Carl Stankowski (Calgary): The 2017 WHL Champion made a career-high 16 starts, ranking second in the league in save percentage (.910).

D – Dawson Davidson (Alberta): In his final year of eligibility, the former Regina Pats and Kamloops Blazers defenceman tied for the Golden Bears’ lead in points with 26.

D – Clay Hanus (Mount Royal): A Portland Winterhawks alum, Hanus earns his second career all-star nod for the Cougars.

F – Dawson Holt (Saskatchewan): The fifth-year veteran continued his steady production for the Huskies.
