Glasgow childcare charity secures 25-year lease on land as part of new nature hub

A childcare charity has secured a 25-year lease on land in Glasgow as part of a new nature project.
The Indigo Childcare Group plans to develop a secured ‘hideaway’ area beside Castleton Primary School designed to help children deepen their connection to the natural world.
Covering more than 2500 square metres, the land was transferred by Glasgow City Council through the People Make Glasgow Communities (PMGC) programme, which allows community and third-sector groups to take over council venues.

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, convener for housing, development and land use at Glasgow City Council, said: “This is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through our PMGC programme.
“The new hideaway area is a great idea, transforming land that had been surplus to the local school’s needs to create something that children will enjoy and find stimulating and I’m looking forward to getting a look around the hideaway when the work’s done.
“Congratulations to all involved.”
Indigo Childcare Group, which has more than 30 years of experience, joins other organisations such as Park Villa Football Development and Castlemilk Community Football Trust in securing long-term leases through the PMGC programme.
