In The Dock – Drivers in court for speeding, no tax, and insurance offences

The four defendants were accused of speeding, having no tax, and keeping a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.
Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Cardiff, Newport, Northampton, and Herefordshire.
Here’s a round-up of the cases.
Sophie Williams, 33, of Laburnum Way in Penarth, pleaded guilty to using an untaxed vehicle.
Williams was sentenced to pay a £40 fine, £85 in costs and £32.50 back duty at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on February 11.
Paul Condick, 42, of Rhodfa’r Morwydd in Penarth, was caught speeding in a 50mph limit on the motorway.
Condick pleaded guilty, and at Newport Magistrates’ Court on February 10 was ordered to pay a £40 fine, £120 in costs, and a £16 surcharge. He had three points added to his licence.
Carl Perry, 43, of Hayes Road in Sully, was clocked by a manned speed camera speeding in a 20mph speed limit.
Perry was fined £85 after pleading guilty. At Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on February 9, Perry was also ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £34 surcharge, and also had three points added to his licence.
Dan Holden, of Perclose in Dinas Powys, kept a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.
At Herefordshire Magistrates’ Court on February 10, Holden was fined £220. He must also pay £100 in costs and an £88 surcharge.
