Manchester United standing back – Letting Bayern Munich get on with €150m transfer

Talk around Manchester United and Victor Osimhen isn’t new. Sport Witness have covered interest from the Red Devils in the past, with the Italian media pushing the idea in the summer of 2025.
That is when the striker had returned to Napoli after the loan at Galatasaray. He then returned to the Turkish club in a permanent deal and is now firmly established as a club hero.
It is obvious that the club was only a stepping stone for the Nigerian, who grabbed attention in the Champions League.
Now, he could be on the move again and Manchester United have moved away.
Bayern Munich emerge as leaders
FootMercato report that while Gala are quite happy with the striker and have no intention to sell him, interest from major clubs can change their perspective.
The player’s entourage has received expressions of interest from Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany is believed to be a big fan of the striker, whose formative years actually came in Belgium at Charleloi.
The Nigeria international is seen as a replacement for Harry Kane, who can depart the Bavarians in the summer or the year after. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested but they believe Gala’s demands of €150m are quite prohibitive. They also don’t want to pay Osimhen’s hefty salary of €20m per season.
Manchester United have also backed away and so have Juventus. Saudi Arabia clubs are also interested but Osimhen isn’t keen on moving there.
This leaves the German giants the favourites to land him in the summer.
Manchester United don’t need another striker
The Red Devils’ stance over the deal makes a lot of sense. Even last summer, Osimhen’s wage demands probably pushed the English side away from the player.
Now, Benjamin Sesko is finding form and he was signed for big money. He is also younger than Osimhen and can fix the long-term needs at Old Trafford.
That is why Manchester United don’t even need another striker and should stay away from spending big on one.
