Canucks trading D Myers to Stars, pending trade call

The Tyler Myers trade saga has come to an end.

The Vancouver Canucks are trading the veteran defenceman to the Dallas Stars for a second-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2029, TSN Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun report.

The Canucks will also retain 50 per cent of Myers’ $3 million cap hit through next season.

Sounds like pending trade call, Tyler Myers will land in Dallas.

The Canucks first scratched Myers from their lineup last Wednesday for roster management reasons after asking him to consider a trade to the Detroit Red Wings and he has not played since.

A native of Houston, Texas, Myers has a full no-move clause and controlled his destiny in trade talks.

He has appeared in 57 games this season for the Canucks and has a goal with seven assists.

The 36-year-old was in his seventh season with Vancouver after joining the team as a free agent in 2019. He is currently playing on a three-year deal that will expire after next season.

The Canucks, who are expected to be sellers on more players leading up to the trade deadline, have one salary retention spot left after retaining Ilya Mikheyev in a trade to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2024.
