Maple Leafs deal McMann to Kraken, Laughton to Kings in deadline sale

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken and forward Scott Laughton to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday afternoon.
The Maple Leafs received a 2026 fourth-round pick and a second-round pick in 2027 from the Kraken for McMann while receiving a conditional third-round pick from Los Angeles in the Laughton deal.
ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reports that the third-round pick will become a second if Los Angeles makes the playoffs.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston also confirmed the Maple Leafs did not trade defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson after scratching him the past two games for roster management purposes.
Ekman-Larsson has two years remaining after this season on his contract with a cap hit of $3.5 million.

McMann, 29, is in the midst of a career season, recording 19 goals and 32 points in 60 games with the Maple Leafs.
He previously set career highs with 20 goals and 34 points in 74 games last season.
The 6-foot-2 winger is on the final season of a two-year, $2.7 million contract that carries a cap hit of $1.35 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022, McMann has 54 goals and 91 points in 200 career games.
Laughton, 31, was acquired prior to last year’s trade deadline from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for prospect Nikita Grebenkin and a draft pick.
He had eight goals and 12 points in 43 games this season in Toronto.
The 6-foot-1 centre is on the final season of a five-year, $15 million contract that carries a cap hit of $1.5 million after the Flyers retained a portion of his salary in the trade. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Drafted 20th overall by the Flyers in 2012, Laughton has 116 goals and 281 points in 724 career games split between the Flyers and Maple Leafs.
The Oakville, Ont., native represented Canada at the 2023 World Hockey Championship, taking home a gold medal.
