Devin Bush, Coby Bryant Agree to Bears Contracts in 2026 NFL Free Agency, Updated Salary Cap

The Chicago Bears have started out the 2026 NFL free agency negotiation period with two major defensive signings.

The Bears have agreed to new contracts with both former Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant and former Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush, according to multiple reports.

Bryant’s deal is a three-year, $40 million contract, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Bush has agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with $21 million guaranteed, his agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bush’s $30 million deal is set to make him the 11th highest-paid linebacker in the NFL in terms of total contract value, per Over the Cap. Bryant will meanwhile rank 12th among safeties with his $40 million contract, according to Over the Cap.

The Bears also reportedly signed defensive tackle Neville Gallimore to a two-year, $12 million deal.

Chicago is additionally re-signing D’Marco Jackson to a two-year, $7.5 million contract, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Those four contracts are set to take up almost the entirety of the Bears’ currently available cap space.

The Bears had $23.15 million in cap space prior to the start of the negotiation period on Monday morning, per Over the Cap.

All teams must be compliant with the $301.2 million cap by the time the new league year starts Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

That could mean more moves, potentially including trades or contract restructuring, are coming for Chicago in order to stay remain under the cap by Wednesday.

It could also mean the Bears are planning on targeting some positions of need in the 2026 NFL draft, in which Chicago holds seven picks starting with No. 25.

The Bears are currently set to spend more than $91 million in cap space on their four highest-paid players next season in Montez Sweat, Jaylon Johnson, Joe Thuney and Dayo Odeyingbo, per Over the Cap.

The team has six other players signed for cap hits of more than $10 million in Jonah Jackson, Grady Jarrett, Kyler Gordon, Cole Kmet, T.J. Edwards and Caleb Williams, according to Over the Cap.

One potential candidate for contract adjustments could be Johnson, who also restructured his deal last offseason in order to clear up cap space for the Bears.
