A four-year-old child has died in hospital after a possible fall from an apartment balcony in Mississauga, said Peel police.

Officers responded around 4:30 p.m. Monday for a medical assist call after a child was found on the ground at an apartment near City Centre Drive and Duke of York Boulevard, said Const. Amanda Steenson with Peel police in an emailed statement Wednesday.

Police received reports that the child possibly fell from an apartment balcony, she said.

Peel paramedics said the child was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition after falling from an unknown height. The child later died in hospital, said Steenson.

She said investigators are continuing to look into the “active and sensitive” case.
