Amherst bounce back with Game 2 victory over Summerside

The Ramblers pick up a 4-2 win over Summerside on home ice

The Amherst Ramblers beat Summerside on Monday night at Amherst Stadium to even their Eastlink South Division Semi-Final at a game apiece.

The Ramblers built a 3-0 lead through two periods of play. Jacob Kaine opened the scoring on the powerplay with seven seconds left in the 1st period. Cooper Cormier made it 2-0 at 10:16 of the 2nd period, and Christian White added another goal just 37 seconds later.

Summerside brought the game back within reach with goals at 7:59 from Max Jardine on the powerplay and Maverick Hayes at 15:50 to make it a 3-2 Amherst lead. But an empty-net goal from Anthony Morin at 18:48 made it a 4-2 final for the Ramblers.

Brandon Lavoie made 38 saves for the win. Summerside’s Justin Robinson, who was in goal for Game 2 after Kolten Bourret started Game 1, made 24 saves in the loss.
