Roads reopened after crash involving Amtrak train, 18-wheeler on US-90, officials say

MISSOURI CITY, Texas (KTRK) — A crash involving an Amtrak train and an 18-wheeler on US-90A on Tuesday has been cleared, according to authorities.

According to TranStar, the crash was reported at about 11:35 a.m on Tuesday. The City of Missouri City stated that the crash involved an Amtrak train and an 18-wheeler.

Officials said that Missouri City fire personnel responded to the scene and extinguished a fire from the crash. According to the city, a HAZMAT team also responded to the scene.

According to officials, emergency crews responded to evaluate the train’s passengers. There are no serious injuries, according to officials who spoke with ABC13.

City officials said a METRO bus has been staged to assist and transport the passengers.

ABC13 spoke with passengers after the crash, who said that the train was traveling from Los Angeles to Houston.

Authorities advised people to avoid the area and to expect traffic delays as crews worked on the scene. TranStar confirmed the scene was cleared at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

SkyEye flew over the scene on Tuesday at about 12:30 p.m. and captured images of the aftermath of the crash. SkyEye also showed a crowd of people sitting along the side of the road.
