Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, experienced widespread service disruptions across India on Wednesday evening, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector. Users reported being unable to access their feeds and open links shared on the platform.

By 8:17 pm, Downdetector recorded 1,227 outage reports from users across the country. The numbers continued to rise, with the platform showing more than 4,500 reports by 8:30 pm, indicating a significant spike in complaints within a short period.

Users stated that while notifications and alerts from X were still being received, they were unable to refresh their timelines or load new posts. On attempting to reload the website, many encountered the error message: “Something went wrong, try again.” On the mobile application, users reported seeing the message: “Cannot retrieve posts at this time. Please try again later.”

Screenshots circulating online showed Downdetector’s outage graph reflecting the surge in reports. The issue appeared to affect both web and mobile users, though the extent of the outage varied by account and region.

As of the latest reports, there has been no official statement from X clarifying the cause of the disruption or providing a timeline for resolution. The platform, which rebranded from Twitter, has experienced intermittent outages in the past, typically resolving within hours.

X, owned by Elon Musk, has undergone multiple technical changes over the past year, including interface updates and backend adjustments aimed at performance and algorithmic modifications.

Further updates are expected if the company issues a statement clarifying the status of the service or confirming remediation efforts.
