NASCAR qualifying results today: Corey Day to start 12th in O’Reilly Series race at Darlington, Kyle Larson on pole

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Hot, slick, unique and fast – Darlington Raceway presents a challenge

to all drivers, no matter which NASCAR series they’re participating in.

A large part of success come race time is determined in qualifying, and for NASCAR O’Reilly Series competitors

, that came early Saturday morning.

Driving the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, Corey Day will start 12th in his first start in the series at Darlington after a qualifying lap of 30.447 seconds. Kyle Larson, who is driving the No. 88 HendrtickCars.com Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, took the pole as the last car on track with a lap of 29.994 seconds.

Day enters the weekend riding a string of four straight top-10 finishes including an eighth-place run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend

. He currently resides in seventh place in the NOAPS points standings through five events in his first full-time series. He finished ninth in a NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Darlington last year.

Larson drove the same car to victory lane at Las Vegas

last week. He is back in the car subbing for Alex Bowman, who continues his recovery from vertigo.

Practice and qualifying in the Cup Series was scheduled to follow with Saturday’s race in the NOAPS is slated to start at 5:30 p.m. Here’s a look at how the field will lineup as well as a TV schedule for the rest of the weekend:
