Penny Lancaster reveals secret to ‘great connection’ after 19 years of marriage with ‘demanding’ Rod Stewart

Penny Lancaster offered fans an insight into her marriage with rockstar Rod Stewart and revealed how the famous couple have managed to keep their spark alive for almost two decades.

The 55-year-old former model and Special Constable with the City of London Police spoke candidly about her husband and said he could be “demanding” at times, but that their “great connection” was only growing by the day.

Penny has been married to Rod, 81, since June 2007, having first met each other when the model was 27 in 1999 and becoming engaged in 2005.

Revealing that her hitmaker husband still “excites” her, the mum-of-two explained that she finds it “really sexy” how much pride Rod takes in his appearance and that the couple are incredibly “romantic”.

She said: “We lay it on thick. The more romantic it is, the better. We have such a great connection on every level; there’s such an energy between us.”

“‘He can be demanding and does require a lot of attention, but that’s fine because I’m good at giving it. He also gives me a lot of attention back, it works both ways,” Penny added, during her chat with The Sun.

The star continued: “We flirt and make each other laugh, moments where it’s just the two of us, and we’re not surrounded by other people, be they family, friends, or work colleagues.”

Marriage rules and parenting with Rod

Not the first time the couple has spilt the beans on their life at home with sons, Alastair, 20, and Aiden, 14, the singer previously shared a glimpse at his parenting style as he revealed the one non-negotiable rule they have in their marriage.

Ahead of their 19th wedding anniversary this June, Rod shared the one habit the rocker and his wife have developed since having their two boys, that helps them navigate their 26-year age gap relationship.

He said they “don’t argue before [they] go to bed”, or when they have a “glass of wine”, during an interview with Woman & Home.

“If we do have arguments, it’s over real quick. And I try and teach my boys that real men can say sorry. There’s a wonderful honesty between the two of us. Long may it last,” Rod added.

Penny also spoke to the publication about how she believes her openness, and how she has “encouraged Rod to do the same”, has changed their family dynamics. The model said her sons have found their dad “much easier to talk to now”.
