Overnight road closures are scheduled along a number of major routes in Kent this week, impacting the county’s busy motorways and A-roads. In the run-up to the late May bank holiday weekend, stretches of the M2, M20, M25, A2, A21 and A20 will be impacted by works.
On the night of Tuesday, May 19, the M20 will shut between Maidstone and Ashford for the return of Operation Brock. The contraflow is to be reinstated due to higher volumes of expected traffic heading to the continent over the long weekend, with the motorway to close in both directions overnight on Tuesday for the traffic scheme to be safely installed.
Additionally, the M20 coastbound will shut between Junction 1, for Swanley Interchange, and Junction 3, for the M26, each night between Monday and Friday inclusive for resurfacing. Tunnel closures continue at the Dartford Crossing this week for ongoing maintenance, impacting both the east and west tunnels at different times.
Sections of the M25 and M26 are also set to close for maintenance works over the coming nights, the full details of which can be found below. KentLive has rounded up all the works impacting travel on the county’s vital motorways and A-roads this week. You can find more details of roadworks on the One.Network site.
