‘Knifeman’ who closes school was construction worker with scissors

West Mercia Police were called at around 7.15am this morning (Monday, March 23) to a report of a man with a knife walking into Waseley Hills High School in Rubery.

According to police, officers were deployed and were able to locate the man and establish that he had picked up a pair of scissors found outside the school.

Police say that there was ‘no malicious intent’ and the man is part of a construction team working on the school grounds.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Officers were deployed to the area, the man was located, and it was established he had picked up a pair of scissors found outside the school, and it was clear that there was no malicious intent, and he is part of the construction team working on the school grounds.”

Waseley Hills High School have now confirmed that the school will remain closed today after an initial statement stated that it had been closed due to an ‘ongoing’ incident.
