Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit Pistons: Everything you need to know

Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff on Ausar Thompson’s career-high seven steals
Ausar Thompson had a career-high seven steals in the Pistons’ 115-101 victory over the Warriors.
Here’s everything you need to know about Monday night’s marquee matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons.
How to watch the Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons host the Los Angeles Lakers at 7 p.m. Monday at Little Caesars Arena. The game will air on FDSN and 97.1 FM.
Los Angeles Lakers’ streak
The Lakers arrive in Detroit riding a nine-game winning streak — one of the NBA’s longest — while the Pistons have won six of their last seven and earlier this season put together a 13-game streak that propelled them into contention. Los Angeles has transformed from a struggling defensive team earlier in the season into a more balanced contender, improving on that end during its current surge and solidifying its place among championship threats.
Star power driving the Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers’ rise has been fueled by Luka Doncic and LeBron James, with Doncic playing at an MVP level and James continuing to produce efficiently in a reduced role. Austin Reaves has also elevated his play during the streak.
Injury questions for Pistons stars Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Stewart
While Doncic avoided missing the game due to a potential suspension stemming from his 16th technical foul, which was later rescinded, the Pistons remain without Cade Cunningham (collapsed lung) and Isaiah Stewart (calf), leaving both teams potentially shorthanded.
Pistons’ outlook against the Lakers
Despite injuries, Detroit has stayed competitive behind improved play and contributions from Daniss Jenkins, and the team believes it can snap the Lakers’ streak and continue its push among the Eastern Conference’s top teams.
