At the centre of the drama is Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper (Jon Hamm), a high-flying hedge fund manager whose world comes crashing down when he loses his job and his marriage to Mel (Amanda Peet) falls apart. Suddenly cut off from his luxury lifestyle, Coop is desperate to keep up appearances for his kids – and himself. But instead of downsizing, he takes a far riskier route by secretly stealing from his wealthy neighbours.

Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper (Jon Hamm) is a complicated anti-hero. Once a successful hedge fund manager, his life unravels after losing his job and his marriage. Desperate to maintain the wealthy lifestyle his family is used to, Coop secretly begins stealing from the homes of his affluent neighbours in Westmont Village. As he pushes further into this risky double life in series two, the arrival of a mysterious new neighbour threatens to expose everything.
Jon Hamm has made a career playing layered, charismatic characters and won an Emmy for his iconic role as Don Draper in Mad Men (2007–2015). He can also shine as an action man as he proved in Baby Driver (2017) as Buddy and Cyclone in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). John Hamm also has his comic timing down to a tee as we discovered in Good Omens (2019–2023) when he showed up as the smug and stylish Archangel Gabriel and hilarious sleuth Irvin ‘Fletch’ Fletcher in Confess, Fletch (2022).

Melanie Cooper (Amanda Peet) is the ex-wife of Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper (Jon Hamm). She’s sharp, emotionally honest and a practising therapist. While Mel is trying to rebuild her life after their divorce and navigate new relationships, she remains deeply connected to Coop through their children and complicated shared history.
Smart is a characteristic in so many of Amanda Peet’s past roles. She shone in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006–2007) as quick-witted television producer Jordan McDeere, before exploring family dynamics in Togetherness (2015–2016). More recently, she impressed in darker, Dirty John (2020) as Betty Broderick, a suburban wife whose marriage breakdown leads to obsession and tragedy. But we will always have a place in our hearts for her as Diane Keaton’s daughter-in-law Marin in the classic romcom Something’s Gotta Give (2003).

Sam Levitt (Olivia Munn) is one of the polished but troubled Westmont Village neighbours. A friend of Mel Cooper’s (Amanda Peet), she decides to trample over some bits of girl-code to form a messy and complicated romantic relationship with her ex Coop (Jon Hamm). She might look in control and glam from the outside, but her world is about to unravel.
One of Olivia Munn’s earliest regular roles came as surfer Gina in Beyond the Break (2006–2009). Her big breakthrough arrived when she joined Aaron Sorkin’s newsroom drama The Newsroom (2012–2014) as Sloan Sabbith, a brilliant but blunt financial reporter whose intelligence and deadpan humour made her a fan favourite.
While her TV career was growing, Olivia Munn also began building an impressive film résumé. She appeared in the comedy Magic Mike (2012) as Mike Lane’s (Channing Tatum) on-again, off-again lover, before joining the superhero universe as mutant warrior Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). She returned to action territory in The Predator (2018), as scientist Casey Brackett.
Hoon Lee as Barney Choi

Barney Choi (Hoon Lee) is Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper’s (Jon Hamm) long-time friend and business manager. Often cynical but loyal, he frequently acts as the voice of reason as Coop’s risky decisions spiral out of control. He is prone to anxiety and has a tricky relationship with his in-laws to contend with.
One of Hoon Lee’s most recognisable roles came as hacker Job in Banshee (2013–2016) and later as Wang Chao, a black market salesman, in Warrior (2019-2023) which was made by the same team. Alongside his live-action work, Lee has built an impressive voice-acting career. He’s notched up 77 episodes of the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012-2020), mainly as Splinter, and was the White Rabbit in cult anime Devil May Cry (2025).
Mark Tallman as Nick Brandes

Nick Brandes (Mark Tallman) is one of Coop’s (Jon Hamm) wealthy neighbours and a former NBA champion who now runs his own fitness business. Confident and successful on the surface, his presence adds tension within the neighbourhood’s elite social circle.
Much of Mark Tallman’s work has been on TV, where he has appeared in a range of dramas. He rose to fame in political thriller State of Affairs (2014–2015) as Aaron Payton – the deceased son of President Constance Payton (Alfre Woodard) and the former fiancé of Charleston Tucker (Katherine Heigl). One of his most recognisable roles came as David Montgomery in First Wives Club (2019–2022), the comedy-drama inspired by the popular 1996 film.

Ali Cooper (Lena Hall) is Coop’s (Jon Hamm) younger sister, a free-spirited singer-songwriter. Despite her creativity, she struggles with mental health issues and relies heavily on Coop for support.
Playing a singer comes naturally to Lena Hall as her career took off in the theatre, where she has earned critical acclaim and a Tony Award for her performances and include Broadway hits like Cats (2016) and Kinky Boots (2015). She gave comic flair as Holly in Girls (2016) and got our hearts racing on screen as Miss Audrey in Snowpiercer (2020–2024), bringing entertainment to the post-apocalyptic train
Amie Carrero as Elena Benitez

Elena Benitez (Amie Carrero) works as a housekeeper for one of Coop’s (Jon Hamm) neighbours but becomes an unexpected accomplice in his burglaries. Smart and pragmatic, she helps him manage the risks involved in his criminal activities.
Aimee Carrero has excelled in comedy like Young & Hungry (2014–2018), animation She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018–2020), and suspenseful drama The Consultant (2023), showing off her versatility.
Eunice Bae as Grace Choi

She’s calm and composed, Grace Choi (Eunice Bae) is Barney’s (Hoon Lee) perceptive wife. Coming from wealth herself, she encourages Barney’s ambitions while quietly observing the chaos unfolding around their social circle.
While Eunice Bae rose to fame in Blue Bloods (2022) as Christine, she has also been in the industry on the other side of the camera as a production designer. She trained in dance since she was a child and has appeared in musicals. Eunice went on to study Communication Design and Photography and has taken snaps for fashion mags and brands.

Growing up as Coop (Jon Hamm) and Mel’s (Amanda Peet) daughter has had it challenges, but Tori Cooper (Isabel Gravitt) is an intelligent teenager. A talented tennis player, she is navigating adolescence while sensing that something is wrong in her father’s life.
It’s hard to believe now that Isabel Gravitt only started acting because she was such a shy child and her parents thought it would boost her confidence. She stood out at April Jarvis in Little Fires Everywhere (2020), then scared us all as in The Watcher (2022) where she played Ellie Brannock.

He’s the youngest member of the Cooper family and Hunter Cooper (Donovan Colan) is still trying to find out who he is. Music is his passion and he’s gifted in it but as his family life becomes more chaotic, life is harder to navigate.
There is a generation growing up with Donovan Colan as their screen heartthrob and icon thanks to roles in teen focused Theater Camp (2023), Spirit Halloween (2022) and The Dogs (2025).

James Marsden is a master of action, romance, and comedy which is quite the combo of big hitters. From Cyclops in four X-Men films (2000-2014) which he will reprise this year, to Lois Lane’s fiancé, Richard White, in Superman Returns (2006), he has always given leading man quality. So it’s no wonder he was heartthrob du jour in romantic classic The Notebook (2004), Prince Edward in Enchanted (2007) and Disenchanted (2022) and woowed Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses (2008). Possibly what we love best about him though is how brilliantly he works with co-stars who are not even there. From Hop (2011) where he is getting deep with the Easter Bunny to hanging out with Sonic the Hedgehog (2020-2024), James is the king of imaginary friends.
On the small screen James Marsden has notched up the airtime too – and there is a dystopian theme to some of his biggest recent works thanks to Westworld (2016-2022) and Paradise (2025).
What happened in the first series of Your Friends & Neighbors?
Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper (Jon Hamm) has it all – until suddenly he doesn’t. When he’s left without a job and a wife but still indulging his expensive tastes, he needs a plan. While getting a new role and moving to a cheaper neighbourhood would be most people’s go to, Coop has a different take on it all. Theft. What starts as a quick fix soon spirals into something much bigger, as Coop realises everyone in Westmont Village has secrets to hide. Teaming up with clever housekeeper Elena Benavides (Aimee Carrero), he begins navigating a dangerous new double life, all while trying to keep his family together.
Things aren’t helped by his complicated love life. His relationship with ex-wife Mel (Amanda Peet) remains fraught, while sparks fly with glamorous neighbour Sam Levitt (Olivia Munn), who’s dealing with troubles of her own. As Coop steps behind the closed doors of the community, affairs, betrayals and hidden scandals come tumbling out, proving that money can’t buy happiness – but it can certainly cause plenty of drama!
Things take a darker turn when Coop finds himself caught up in a shocking death during one of his break-ins, putting him firmly in the frame. With suspicion mounting, he’s forced to juggle fatherhood with a life that’s quickly spinning out of control. We ended the series with a shocking twist, revealing just how far some residents will go to protect their perfect image.
Is Your Friends & Neighbors a true story?
Though the storylines of Your Friends & Neighbors are fictional, creator Jonathan Tropper drew on personal experience when crafting the show. Having spent many years living in New York’s Westchester County – one of America’s most affluent commuter belts – he found himself fascinated by the wealthy world around him. Watching his neighbours spend lavishly and live large, he began to wonder just how sustainable it all really was. What was really going on behind the doors of those grand mansions? And what would happen to someone like that if the money suddenly ran out?
That nagging question later became the heart of the show and to make sure the world felt authentic, he went to extraordinary lengths in the writer’s room. He brought in real hedge fund managers, some of them personal friends, to help the team truly understand what Coop’s (Jon Hamm) professional life looks like, how it shapes him, and crucially, how its loss drives everything that follows. Art consultants and luxury lifestyle experts were also brought on board, giving the writers and directors a precise picture of how Coop’s neighbours actually live including details like the kind of art on their walls, the objects filling their beautiful homes, and most importantly, exactly what Coop might want to steal from them.
Where is Your Friends & Neighbors filmed?
The fictional town of Westmont Village has Coop (Jon Hamm) in a chokehold and Hudson Valley, New York was used for filming Your Friends & Neighbors. True to the manicured small town in the series, the houses here cost big bucks and one of the priciest places to live in New York.
The many of the attractive outdoor were shot at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Briarcliff Manor, New York. The exclusive 100 year old golf course and country club includes the Woodlea Manor, an estate formerly owned by the famously wealthy Vanderbilt family.
