Twin Cities gets cold, quiet end to the workweek; weekend brings fire danger

High pressure starts to move into Minnesota Friday afternoon, setting us up for some weekend improvements.
However, Friday will be the coldest day of the week with highs in the upper 30s. That’s nearly 20-degrees below average.
The Twin Cities will deal with gusts near 30 mph through the afternoon, but skies clear even more and winds calm into the evening hours.
That ridge shifts east Saturday, turning winds out of the south beginning another warm up through the weekend.
Saturday’s highs will return to the 50s with southerly gusts back near 30 mph. This will make for an elevated fire threat for the metro and points south and westward.
Sunday is the top pick with 60s and calmer winds.
Next week starts mild with the pattern turning more active to kick off April.
