Friday’s international football predictions
World Cup holders Argentina are 1-50 to beat Mauritania in Friday’s friendly in Buenos Aires but there are some more competitive international fixtures in Europe.
Norway qualified for the 2026 finals in scintillating fashion, winning all eight of their Group I matches including 3-0 and 4-1 victories over Italy.
But Stale Solbakken’s men face the Netherlands in Amsterdam without striker Erling Haaland, who has been rested, and injured captain Martin Odegaard.
Norway’s defence is less convincing than their attack so the Dutch should be backed to win a game featuring over 2.5 goals.
Ronald Koeman’s side had a couple of 1-1 draws against Group G runners-up Poland but won their other six matches by an aggregate score of 25-2.
Despite injuries to Memphis Depay, Noa Lang and Frenkie de Jong, Koeman has plenty of creative talent in his squad.
The Dutch have lost only one of their 16 internationals since their Euro 2024 semi-final defeat to England.
They gave World Cup favourites Spain a scare in the Nations League quarter-finals, losing on penalties after a 5-5 aggregate draw, and should claim an entertaining win over Norway.
Confident Swiss look hard to beat in Basel
Switzerland were comprehensive winners of qualifying Group B, beating Kosovo 4-0, Slovenia 3-0 and Sweden 4-1 in their three home games.
The Swiss are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Germany and they appeal with the draw no bet in Basel.
Germany needed a late equaliser from Niclas Fullkrug in their Euro 2024 group-stage clash with Switzerland in Frankfurt.
Die Mannschaft are missing the craft of injured Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala and they are hard to trust away from home.
Julian Nagelsmann’s men lost to Portugal and France at last summer’s Nations League finals and suffered a shock 2-0 defeat in Slovakia in their World Cup qualifying Group A opener.
Germany edged past Northern Ireland 1-0 and Luxembourg 2-0 in two subsequent away qualifiers but they face a step up in class against Switzerland.
Goals could be scarce in Madrid friendly
Morocco face Ecuador at Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium and defences are expected to dominate in the Spanish capital.
Ecuador finished second to world champions Argentina in South American World Cup qualifying but their 18 matches produced only 19 goals.
They conceded just five times in qualifying and should be confident of stifling a Morocco attack which is heavily reliant on Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz.
Morocco needed penalties to get past Nigeria after a goalless 120 minutes in January’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.
Brahim’s unsuccessful Panenka penalty meant the Afcon final also ended 0-0 in normal time and Senegal’s extra-time winner was only the second goal Morocco conceded in seven games at their home tournament.
They have shut out Bahrain, Mozambique and Uganda in their last three international friendlies and no goalscorer looks a big runner against Ecuador.
