What is the controversy surrounding Elias Ronnenfelt? Allegations explored as Jenna Ortega comes under fire online

Jenna Ortega is facing immense backlash on X over her rumored relationship with Danish musician Elias Ronnenfelt. For the unversed, the dating rumors began in Oct. 2025, after Jenna appeared in the Iceage frontman’s music video, Mona Lisa.
Since then, the two have been spotted together multiple times. Ortega and Ronnenfelt were recently seen at a Dublin pub on March 22, as a fan took a video of them sitting side by side.
As the video spread online, fans of Jenna Ortega started criticizing her for supposedly dating the 34-year-old artist. They brought up past controversies involving his punk rock band, Iceage.

The band has been accused of being right-wing in the past. Netizens also claimed that at their shows, they seemingly allowed fans to shout “Sieg Heil,” which is a slogan used by Nazis.
Elias Ronnenfelt has also been connected to Nazism. When he was 18, he made some art for Iceage that included symbols of neo-Nazis and fascists. He later acknowledged his mistake in a 2021 interview with Pitchfork.
Elias said he and his bandmates were “dumbfounded” when they saw the criticism. They then realized they had to clarify what they stood for.
Ronnenfelt stated that the symbols were copied from the 1980s film Roller Blade and that he did not know what they were connected to. The frontman shared that Iceage was not right-wing and they do not have any “sympathies or leanings” towards it.
In the same Pitchfork interview, Elias was asked about Iceage’s festival, where the band named “White N-word” performed. He replied that he did not know about the band being violent and doing blackface, as he came across them through people who were active in Antifa activism.
The musician stated that he was “embarrassed” to share a stage with that band and deeply regretted allowing them to perform. Along with these controversies, on Reddit, users have brought up that Elias has physically attacked fans at his shows, including damaging phones, spitting, and kicking them in the chest.
Fans have criticized Jenna Ortega for reportedly dating Elias Ronnenfelt
As the Danish musician’s past controversies resurfaced on X, fans advised Jenna Ortega to rethink her “choices.” Some even brought up how the Wednesday fans ship Jenna with her co-star Emma Myers.
They even went as far as attacking Emma’s rumored boyfriend and musician Ben Ellis. Many X users stated that fans needed to stop bringing up Emma and Ben, as Jenna is seemingly dating Elias.
On the other hand, some users mentioned Jenna Ortega’s public support for Palestine, saying that she was talking about being anti-genocide, and then allegedly dating a man who is supposedly a Nazi supporter.
“Jenna Ortega needs to quit talking a big game about values when her actions don’t match her words. Fine, it’s her private life, but she needs to stop selling us a lie,” one fan wrote.
It is worth noting that neither Jenna Ortega nor Elias Ronnenfelt has confirmed their relationship. As of the time of writing this article, they have not addressed the backlash on X either.
