Julia Starodubtseva reached her first WTA 500 semifinal in Charleston

A surprise victory in Charleston pushed a Ukrainian qualifier into her first WTA 500 semifinal. She now faces a career defining challenge.
The Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva secured a significant victory in the quarterfinal match of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston, USA, which took place overnight from April 3 to 4. With this win, she for the first time in her career reached the semifinals of a tournament at this level.
It is also worth noting that in February at the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Ukrainian players Oleksandra Oliynykova and Daria Snigur reached the semifinals at this level.
