Only one player in the last 40 years has taken three weeks off on the PGA Tour before the Masters and won: Adam Scott in 2013.
Augusta National Golf Club is the most predictive venue on the tour schedule. Year after year, players who check a handful of particular boxes compete, contend and, ultimately, win. While we are flooded with trends all week, this small fact really stood out because it captures the core reasons for how we predict winners. Recent form, Masters starts, player schedules, historical data and 2026 results all significantly influence who will don the green jacket.
It’s with this in mind that we offer this disclaimer: The 2026 Masters Power Rankings are not a measure of who is the best player in the world; that title still belongs to Scottie Scheffler. The rankings reflect who has the best chance to contend and eventually make their way to Butler Cabin THIS week. Since nine of the past 10 Masters winners had at least one top-10 finish in their previous three starts, Scheffler is not only battling against time (he has taken three weeks off), but he’s also below the standard for recent form.
That statement about Scheffler’s chances pretty much sums up the Power Rankings. What happens when 89 years of tradition collide with modern analytics? Scroll down and start reading. We’re biased, but we believe these rankings are a helpful resource, something to bookmark as you prepare your pool picks, weekend wagers and neighborhood tiers contest. Even if you don’t agree with the order, there is no other place where you can find all this information in one spot.

And then there’s this: How has Davis Riley found himself in his second straight Masters? In his rookie campaign (2025), he finished T-21, but that’s not the reason. Riley finished runner-up at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. The top-four finishers at the previous year’s PGA Championship get an invitation (Qualification 16). The Irishman is a veteran who can easily find his way again fast, but first, we’ll have to see four solid rounds before he climbs back into the top 20 of these rankings.

Although his driver can be a weapon, the putter has been the key to Knapp’s consistency this year. Six top-11 finishes in seven starts means don’t fall asleep on him this week.

Conners must be very focused on the Masters. Why else would the two-time Valero Texas Open winner skip the trip to San Antonio? His track record at Augusta National is pretty impressive; in his last six starts, he has four top-10s, including a T-8 last year. It makes sense on a course that seriously rewards ball-striking and keeps average putters in contention. Come Sunday, I doubt Canada will have somebody joining Mike Weir as a Masters champ, but there’s a very good chance Conners is in the conversation once again.

Gotterup reminds us a little bit of Fuzzy Zoeller. And that’s exactly who he will have to imitate this week if he is going to win the green jacket in his Masters debut. The only player with two PGA Tour wins in 2026, Gotterup has taken his game to another level. The only two venues where he has “kind of” struggled were Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass. This week will be more like Memorial Park, where he finished sixth. Quite frankly, he would be inside the top 15 of these Power Rankings if he weren’t fighting the first-timer hex that’s lasted at the Masters for nearly 50 years.

Lefties love Augusta National, and Bhatia is one of two southpaws near the top of these Power Rankings. Since the WM Phoenix Open, he has gained more than 9½ strokes total on average per start (five events). His scoring has been incredible with his putter and wedges. So why not rank Bhatia better? He has just one top-30 finish in nine career major starts. This may be his time, but it’s important to read one’s résumé before hiring them.

Never mind the age, Scott ranks fifth on approach in 2026 and 12th in driving distance. Oddly, though, for a past Masters champ, the Aussie has not been great at Augusta National most of the last decade. Can this ball-striking renaissance be the key to contending again? Many pundits believe this is Scott’s year to make another run. Before you bet the farm, take a look at the putting stats. Where Scott has been amazing on approach, he has been equally frustrating with the broomstick.
20: Brooks Koepka

During Koepka’s major dominance, he contended a couple of times at the Masters. It makes sense: Augusta National combines all of the specific skills you use to win each of the other majors. With Koepka’s ability to remain patient under pressure, I always believed this would be a major he would capture. Based on his recent ball-striking, Koepka certainly can win. Unfortunately, the putter has yet to join him in his return to the PGA Tour. In six starts since coming back in January, Koepka has lost an average of two strokes per start with the flatstick.

Warning: You must be this tall to ride the Spieth roller coaster. And jumping on the ride at Augusta National is a pure adrenaline rush. With three top-12s in his last five starts, there are signs of life. Maybe you wanted to see him do better in San Antonio than make the cut on the number, but it is what it is. If all you’re looking for is entertainment, then enjoy the ride, but if results fuel your engagement, then be aware Jordan’s major moments might be behind him.
18: Si Woo Kim

Kim is sixth among those in the Masters field in strokes gained/T2G for 2026. Making the cut in seven of eight career Augusta starts is more proof that incredible ball-strikers make an impact on the leaderboard. Took a year off in 2025, but with seven straight top-40 results, and with his 2026 form, there’s a good chance Kim can beat his T-12 best result playing at Augusta National; after all Kim has four finishes inside the top six in nine starts this year.
17: Min Woo Lee

The knock against Lee has always been his approach play. It’s why, since Augusta National is a second-shot golf course, picking him to lead on Sunday afternoon didn’t make sense. But in his last five starts on tour, he has gained nearly five strokes with his iron game three times! We all know Lee has plenty of ball speed and the short game to contend. While many will be fixated on other names in the middle of the odds board, the Aussie might be just the secret weapon you are looking for.

In 2025, Rose broke Jack Nicklaus’ record for the most first-round Masters leads with five. Unfortunately for Rose, Mr. Nicklaus has six green jackets and the Englishman has three runner-up finishes. Winner at the Farmers in January, Rose has far more form coming in than last year, when he took Rory McIlroy to extra holes. Outside of a recent T-13 at the Players, Rose has to improve his driver and short game before Thursday. Wide fairways will help off the tee, but won’t do much for his wedge play. Take Rose to lead after Round 1 and limit your exposure after that.
15: Russell Henley

Henley has four top-10s in his last six major starts. Can he, at 36, win a Masters green jacket? For every Dustin Johnson that contends around Amen Corner, there is a Zach (Johnson). Russell wins with precision and patience, two important keys to success at Augusta National. The reason Henley’s name is not higher on this list is his shaky Augusta history. In nine Masters starts, he has only one top-10. It’s time for this Georgia boy to get a little more comfortable in his home state.

Outside of Scottie Scheffler, no player has more questions surrounding his 2026 Masters run-up than Morikawa. Having one of his finest seasons as a ball-striker, Morikawa’s signature win at Pebble Beach in February was long overdue. Jump to the Players, and Morikawa’s week was cancelled after one hole. Injury concerns are still circling as he withdrew from the Valero, insisting it was out of precaution. Six trips to Augusta National and five straight top-18 finishes make Morikawa a perfect fit, if he is healthy.

Thomas returned from back surgery in November and finished eighth at the Players. Meanwhile, from 2017 to 2022, Thomas contended in six straight Masters. Has that window closed? Not for this world-class player, but with minimal reps in 2026, a missed cut, and a T-30 to go along with that top-10 at TPC Sawgrass, you might wait on the two-time major champion. We need the approach game to gain some consistency before we can back this Alabama star in Georgia.

Can the Masters winner come in with below-average form? Matsuyama caught us all by surprise in 2021; he had just three top-20s in nine starts to begin that season. Fast forward to 2026, Matsuyama has made seven of seven cuts and has four top-15 results. The key behind that success has been Matsuyama’s approach play. Combine that with one of the top five short games on tour plus a spot in the Champions Locker Room, and Matsuyama’s odds of winning this week are worth watching.

Add on a runner-up finish at the Valero Texas Open, and the lens will be firmly affixed on the young Scot as he walks among the azaleas.

With all of the attention at the top of the Power Rankings and his recent Sunday slips, there is an opportunity to take Åberg while others are looking elsewhere. Ball speed, long irons, and an incredible history, the kid can very easily become “The Man” this week at Augusta National.

Runner-up at the Players, then winner the next week at Valspar, Fitzpatrick is on a roll. Truth be told, that is not a recent run. Since the 2025 PGA, Matt has played incredible golf, earning two wins and 12 top-10s in 23 worldwide starts. By elevating his play over the last 11 months, the Englishman has become a huge favorite to win a major in 2026!

The 2018 Masters champ is on a mission. Reed has already collected two global wins in 2026, and his most recent start (Joburg Open) resulted in a 10th-place showing. Reed finished third last year at Augusta National and has four top-10s in his last six Masters starts. Upon inspection of his DP World Tour starts, Reed is gaining strokes with his ball-striking AND his putting. That’s a lethal combination, especially for a guy who knows how to win at Augusta National.

He’s the reigning FedEx Cup champ, yet Fleetwood didn’t finish better than his T-16 in a major in 2024. Tommy has two wins and seven top-10s in his last 12 starts, so I am not trying to throw you off his scent. Fleetwood has made his last eight cuts in a row at Augusta National and managed a top-three finish in 2024. I like Tommy to take home some crystal this week from the club. Fleetwood is ranked eighth in the field T2G (2026) and ninth in par-4 scoring. Two traits every Masters champion possesses.

Young is going to be a VERY popular pick at Augusta. Can a player win the Masters and the Players? Well, it happened only last year. Young missed the cut at Augusta in 2025 but since then, he has had 11 top-10s and two wins. He also was a star at the Ryder Cup, and all because this beautiful ball-striker improved his putting. Young has gained strokes on the field with his flatstick in 18 of his last 22 starts, going all the way back to Magnolia Lane one year ago. With question marks surrounding a couple of the elite players, the closet door to a green jacket is more open than it has been in sometime.

Firm conditions will be a theme around Augusta National this week. DeChambeau has an edge when the ground gets soft, but under dry conditions, the approach game gives us concern. We know the driver and putter will be there, but the irons and his acumen around the green tend to leave this major champion a couple of strokes back around Magnolia Lane. Recall the final round last year, DeChambeau having the lead with 16 holes to play and ended up losing by four. In that round, his irons let him down.

In the last 19 Masters, just three defending champions have managed a top-10 finish the following year. Can Rory repeat? Jack Nicklaus (1965-66), Nick Faldo (1989-90), and Tiger Woods (2001-02) are the only ones to do in. The ball-striking McIlroy has shown in 2026 has been great, and I’m not concerned about the back. If he were to make a run, he would need to clean up the putting we saw at the Players. Speaking of the Players, McIlroy is another favorite who decided to take three weeks off coming into Augusta.

Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the world. But the Masters rewards recent form, and Scheffler, despite the ranking, has just not been as good as a couple of other players in 2026. Taking three full weeks off before heading to Magnolia Lane, while understandable with the birth of his second son, Remy, still raises some questions. Augusta National requires your full attention, and with no top-10s on Scheffler’s résumé since the AT&T Pebble Pro-Am in mid-February, I’m saying, “yes, the field has a chance.”

A strokes gained machine across the board, Schauffele finished fourth at the Valspar, third at the Players and seventh at the Genesis. His form in 2026 has been impeccable. A top-10 machine at major, back Schauffele and you’re guaranteed to be sweating on Sunday afternoon.

This is far from a controversial pick; Rahm has been excellent in 2026 with a win, three runners-up and a fifth place on LIV in five starts. He is striking his irons like it is 2023 again. You know what he did that year, won the Masters. The driver never left, and his short game is a secret weapon around August. Rahm has never missed a cut at the Masters in nine starts. If you read this on Monday, Rahm’s name may be a surprise at the top, but check back in on Wednesday. By then, this is the only name you will have heard all week!
