ITV viewers were thrilled when two new additions made their debut on the latest episode of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.

Despite the new series kicking off on Monday (April 6), people were quick to highlight that there were some familiar faces missing who had featured in the line-up.

Now, two of those stars have made their way into the jungle as Gemma Collins and Craig Charles were seen taking on the ‘Gut Instincts’ trial.

As ITV’s Ant and Dec informed both camps that they were exempt from the trial, both groups headed to the trials area to meet Gemma and Craig.

However, Gemma was quick to assure the group that she’d come in with a different mindset this time around and pleaded: “Just give me a chance, guys.”

Admitting she was there as Gemma Collins, not with the same bravado as The GC, which people know her by, she told the group it’d be nice for them all to get to know the real her.

Craig and Gemma then had to privately decide how many servings of dishes such as Fish Eye Pie, Terror-rine, Brain Freeze, and Bloody Moory Shots they are willing to eat or drink.

The player who commited to the highest number of servings then had to consume the entire pledged amount to win a point for their team, with Gemma being chosen for Savannah Scrub and Craig for the main camp.

However, during the trial Gemma surpassed expectations as she did well in the trial with many rushing to social media to share their thoughts.

One person said: “Well done Gemma! If she does nothing else, you admit that was better than her last stint completely.” Another commented: “The eating trials are horrible to watch.”

Someone else shared: “I’m backing Gemma here! I hope she proves them all wrong!” One fan said: “I never thought I’d say this, but @missgemcollins is SMASHING the trial.”

Another wrote: “Yessss!!! The GC SMASHED it!!!” As one fan added: “This episode has been so much better than yesterday, Gemma has single-handedly saved the whole series already.”

Ahead of her jungle return, Gemma spoke about her mindset going on the show for a second time, adamant her quick exit from 2014 won’t happen again.

She said: “There is no way I am going to be leaving after 72 hours. I am in it to win it. I am going through to the end.

“Last time, there were no highlights for me. But I wasn’t the strong, assertive woman I am today, and I’ve got a totally different mindset.”

I’m a Celebrity… South Africa which airs every weeknight at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV Player & STV.
