Drivers may want to wait a few more days to fill up as gas prices are set to see a significant drop this weekend.

Industry analyst Dan McTeague shared that the price at the pumps will fall 2 cents a litre to 186.9 on Thursday and a further 13 cents per litre on Friday to 173.9.

The price drops follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire with Iran.

“It is good news for the market, at least temporarily for the next two weeks,” McTeague said.

He noted the savings will amount to between $10 and $15, depending on the size of the tank.

The price of diesel is also expected to dip by 28 cents per litre on Friday to 206.9, McTeague said.

“That will be important news for those who carry and freight everything we have in this country from train to jet to trucks,” he noted.

For drivers who are getting close to empty, McTeague suggested getting just enough to hold you over.

“Obviously everyone is going to have to wait until Friday. It you need gasoline, get two or three bucks today or tomorrow,” he said.

“But wait until Friday. It will be well worth the delay.”
