Oulton Broad North railway station fire affects train services

A fire at a Suffolk railway station restaurant has led to the cancellation of train services across two counties.

Fire crews were called at about midnight to Oulton Broad North station in Lowestoft, where they found the roof alight at an Indian restaurant based at the platform.

Greater Anglia said the “serious fire” had caused “severe damage to a building at the station”, leading to services being cancelled between Lowestoft, Norwich and Ipswich, external.

Crews managed to extinguish the blaze by 06:00 BST, but remained at the scene to tackle any hot spots.
