Carey Mulligan Favors Dries Van Noten

Carey Mulligan channeled Dries Van Noten‘s art history at Wednesday night’s red carpet premiere of “Beef” Season Two in Los Angeles.

The three-time Oscar-nominated actress turned to the Belgian label’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection, styling a strapless midi dress with fabric and color contrast. The dress was crafted with a straight across neckline and formfitting bodice with a skirt silhouette akin to the pencil style.

When it came to the material and colorways of the dress, the Dries Van Noten design harkened back to artworks and textiles of yore. The bodice contrasted a gilded gold bust with botanical blues beneath the bustline and at the waist. The skirt, however, offered the most unique element of the wholistic look.

Pixelation was a major motif in the Dries Van Noten fall 2026 rtw collection, and the motif was featured in Mulligan’s look with contrasting tones of reds, yellows and blues set again black. Mulligan completed her look with sandal pumps by Gianvito Rossi. The actress’ look was curated by stylist Danielle Goldberg, who also counts Kendall Jenner and Oscar-winner Jessie Buckley among her clients.

Creative director and designer Julian Klausner debuted Dries Van Noten’s fall 2026 rtw collection during Paris Fashion Week last March. Flemish still-life paintings were a key source of inspiration for the collection.

“[Klausner] loved the idea of distortion, too, using bits of pixelated paintings on the fronts of coats with stand-up collars, and working with gobeline, a type of jacquard that resembles tapestry, for a lineup of long coats — some with toggle fronts and hoods — and for gold-edged jackets and snazzy patchwork bustier tops,” Samantha Conti wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
