A’s at Angels odds, picks and predictions

The A’s (23-23) and the Los Angeles Angels (16-31) open a 4-game series Monday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. First pitch is scheduled for 9:38 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze MLB odds around the A’s vs. Angels odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

2025 season series: Angels won 9-4

The A’s suffered a 10-1 home loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday as moderate favorites (-146) as the Over (9.5) cashed. The lone bright spot was RF Carlos Cortes, who went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI (and also finished up the game with a scoreless inning on the mound as a position player).

The A’s have dropped 3 of the past 4 games, while going just 2-5 across the previous 7 contests. The Over cashed in the final 2 games of the San Francisco series, but the Under is still 6-2-1 in the previous 9 outings.

The Angels were swept at home by the LA Dodgers over the weekend, getting outscored 31-3 in the lopsided 3-game interleague series. In Sunday’s 10-1 loss, 3B Yoan Moncada provided the only offensive spark with an RBI. The Angels have dropped 6 in a row, too, and 8 of the past 9 games dating back to May 8. They have been outscored 62-16 in the 9-game span.

A’s at Angels picks and predictions

Prediction

A’s 4, Angels 3

The A’S (-140) are light road favorites against the skidding Angels. Take advantage.

While Urena has been a solid pitcher at home, the Angels offense has really bottomed out lately — the primary reason for the team’s 6-game skid. The A’s have been fairly respectable away from home this season, sporting a winning road record (13-11).

While I like the A’s to get the job done on the road, laying the -1.5 (+120) is too risky for me. The Angels are skidding hard, but 3 losses to the first-place Cleveland Guardians on the road, and 3 losses to the high-priced Dodgers, isn’t anything to be ashamed about.

Urena has strong splits at home, and therefore the A’s might win, but doing so by 2 or more runs seems unlikely.

PASS.

UNDER 9 (-110) is worth a look, as the Angels have scored 2 or fewer runs in the 6 straight losses and in 8 of their past 9 games since May 8. The Under is 12-5 across their past 17 outings, too.

For the A’s, while the Over hit in both games over the weekend against the Giants, the Under is a healthy 6-2-1 in their past 9 games since May 8.
