Sabres’ Jordan Greenway has a stick loss problem

Jordan Greenway is a key member of the Buffalo Sabres’ penalty kill.

Something keeps happening, though, when Greenway is on the ice for the PK, and it’s not ideal: He keeps losing his stick.

It feels like every time Greenway is out there in the defensive zone with the Sabres down a man, something happens to his stick.

It led to this viral post on X:

Death.

Taxes.

Jordan Greenway losing his stick.

It was a discussion point earlier in the playoffs for a different reason. Fans were wondering whether Greenway should be hustling to get off the ice and get a new stick, or whether he should stay in the zone and play without it.

He struggled to defend on a Montreal goal earlier in the current series as he was essentially skated right by because he didn’t have a stick to use.

That’s a conundrum that coaches will never fully reach a conclusion on, but the cause of it is something that might be worth looking into.

It doesn’t seem like Greenway’s teammates are having that issue nearly as often. What’s Greenway doing differently to cause it?

With a Game 7 coming up, even the smallest margins matter, like having a stick versus not while defending a penalty.
