Seattle Mariners play sandlot-style baseball with local schools for ‘Recess Takeover’

SEATTLE — Seattle Mariners players visited two Seattle-area elementary schools on Tuesday as part of the club’s Mariners Recess Takeover program, which aims to bring sandlot-style baseball back to local schools through active play during recess.
Players participating in the visits included Emerson Hancock, Cole Young, Jhonny Pereda, Patrick Wisdom, Connor Joe, and Nick Davila.
Humpy the Salmon also attended the events, drawing enthusiastic reactions from students.
Active play is an essential building block for learning, the Mariners said.
